Flashback to just a few short years ago where I got the letter from my governing body that everyone dreads to get.
It read something along the lines of…
Congratulations! Your number has been selected to be audited.
It was the second time receiving that letter since graduating in 2005 and during yet another iteration of our quality assurance program, which is currently being re-vamped again.
My stress and anxiety levels immediately went through the roof.
I had a lot of catching up to do since I was on maternity leave with my second baby and my focus really hadn’t been on my career over the past year.
My brain went immediately to… what do I have?
I attended a conference 6 months ago. Check!
Did I take any courses last year? The year before?... I can’t remember (thanks baby brain!).
Where’s my paperwork? I know I took notes!
I always had really good intentions whenever I was learning something I could apply to my portfolio, but it usually ended up where I couldn’t find it.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m actually a fairly organized person, however, paper notes were always my kryptonite.
Do you ever have stacks of paper just sitting on your counter for months then decide they can’t be important? Or you’re just so sick of staring at the piles you just toss them all in the recycling bin?
I don’t know if my course notes ever ended up in any of those piles, but it’s completely possible.
So I would search the house high and low.
Found some in my trusty folder.
A few more in my inbox.
A notebook that was hiding in my weekend bag.
There had to be a better way to do this.
Between working full time, caring for 2 kids on my own while hubby worked out of town and all the other responsibilities that come with adulting, I needed help.
Not too long ago I figured out that I’m not the only one on this struggle bus, so I put my nose to the grindstone and started researching.
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE doing research?
Anyway, so many of my colleagues were struggling with the same issue.
It took a month of research, development, blood and sweat to create something that actually worked for me.
I created the Ultimate CE Tracker so I could take digital notes. No more notebooks. Instead I could store them digitally AND print them off and keep them tidy in a binder.
My favorite part? I print out a few sheets to bring with me to courses and conferences so I know exactly which details I need to get so I’m not chasing after rogue papers.
If you’ve already received the Tracker and are using it, GO YOU! You have a huge head start when it comes to submitting your info.
And just in case you haven’t received it yet, go ahead and grab it HERE.
Maybe you’re like me and would love to be completely hands off on your record keeping. We all do enough of that on a daily basis.
CE tracking is actually included in RDH Inner Circle, our monthly continuing education program. We keep all of your course information and certificates safe for you.
We’re currently not open for registration, but I GOTCHU! Get on the waitlist to be the first to know when we re-open: www.rdhinnercircle.com
Oh, and I haven’t finished my audit story yet! I promise to finish that up in the next email.
